19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from March of that year.
The win also indicates he has won 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.
His counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.
Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
Moutet saved four early chances in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
